Established in 1985, Sumac was formed to provide engineering and manufacturing services for a local OEM, steady growth, with expansion of buildings, machine tools and highly skilled personnel has enabled us to service a wider range of industry sectors including electronics, communications, defence, food processing, marine and petro chemical.

Our conception
Back in 1985 we had the vision to start an engineering firm we believed would develop, grow and encourage people to express their creativity and engineering skills. We knew we needed to build strong foundations by making sound business decisions and employing talented individuals with a strong work ethic. That continues to this day which is why we are able to confidently fulfill any engineering and manufacturing ask, be it large or small.
Sumac’s growth
We are continually looking to grow by investing in personnel, systems, machinery and infrastructure. We are proud of our policy for investing in the future and so maintain good links with schools and colleges to encourage our ever-expanding apprenticeship programme.
The Sumac way for today
We use the Aventa Production Control System (MRP) which gives us complete control of our manufacturing process. It has also improved our ability to meet our customers’ delivery schedules, and with automated shop floor data collection we are able to have an up-to-the-minute overview of the status of work in the factory.
We have a fully documented system of work in progress and inspection procedures. These are rigorously implemented to ensure all components are manufactured to all requirements, giving complete confidence and peace of mind to all our customers.
